Social Care Practitioner

The employer runs several homes for children, young people and adults. We are looking for social care practitioners for an adult home in the West Midlands caring for young adults with severe learning difficulties. If you only want to work with children and young people please let us know as well.

The job opportunity:  The home provides residential support for young adults aged 18 years and over, who have a severe learning disability, autism, communication difficulties, challenging behaviours, mental health and other complex needs.

Facilities: The home offers a unique range of living accommodation from 1, 2 and 3 bedroom   apartments, there are also two 6 bedded bungalows. Each home has their own lounge, kitchen and bathroom facilities. The range of living accommodation enables the employer to ensure compatibility of peer groups where likeminded people can share interests. This also enables them to provide specific need homes which may focus on sensory needs, quieter homes and age appropriate homes.

Who are we looking for: Ideally you have two years plus relevant work experience working with young adults with severe learning disabilities or have a social care qualification or training and/or experience, working with young adults in care. You should also have experience in medication administration.

What you should be aware of: You should support the personalised development of each resident. It is expected that you carry out personal care including matters of physical wellbeing and personal hygiene. Also that you grow into a Keyworker role within the team on successful completion of the 6 months probationary period.

The salary range: £ 17043 - £18,330 per annum according to qualification, work experience and training achieved. It is before tax. The starting salary depends on experience and is according to a grading system which we can share with you during our pre-screening.

Must have: A full, clean driving licence is essential as the role requires driving and the area is very rural.
